Bio
Hi, thanks for stopping by. I’m Justin, and I’m the guy behind the camera here at Thousand Words Photography. I love capturing the beauty and emotion that surrounds us everyday.
Beauty comes in a variety of packages… The miracle of life carried by an expectant mom. The innocence of a child. The elation of lovers on their wedding day. Generations of family members enjoying each others company. The anticipation of engaged couples. I would consider it my privilege to capture these moments for you artistically and photojournalistically.
Now that you know how I approach photography I’ll tell you a little about myself (since this is the bio page). I am a husband, father, business owner, avid reader, pilot and aviation enthusiast, carpenter, designer, writer and photographer. Yes, I wrote this page myself (and in the 1st person).
I was a designer / layout artist for a number of years before taking up photography. This is important for you to know because great photos can be made exceptional with the right design/retouching techniques. Also, you certainly want your album, cards and other materials designed by someone with talent. I designed this site and built this website myself (instead of using a packaged photographer site template) because I wanted it to be a reflection of my style. My style is succinctly conveyed in my tagline “Photography. Journalism. Art”. I don’t consider myself a true photojournalist because I will interact with the scene to create a lasting image - that is where the Art comes in. Art is also created during the post-processing. Before you ever see an image, I have reviewed, color corrected, cropped and adjusted it so that the image conveys the beauty and emotion of the moment.
Take a look at my site and portfolio. If you like what you see I’d love to work with you to capture the beauty and emotion in your life.
Justin
